A Moment of Hallucination
Yeah. I had a moment this morning where I swear I thought I was going to need some serious medication. I thought I was certifiably crazy.
Made it to the dentists this morning to have a bit of adjustment, as I've been suffering massive headaches in the evenings since I had my fillings done last week.
Well, they did the work, drilling it down a bit, and checking, rechecking, and adjusting some more. No needles or freezing needed. In and out in 30 minutes. That didn't stop me from being tense though.
Afterwards I had to come home and hoof it over to the school for my regular Tuesday Reading, and I was early so spent a few extra moments getting my folders & books ready. The shelf where all of our supplies are, is right across from the school library.
So, I'm standing there sorting through my stuff, and I hear drilling. I hear the suction machine.
I stopped what I was doing and I could feel the blood drain from my face as I was just standing there with this stupid horrified look on my face.
"Oh My God", I thought. "I wasn't worried about this mornings appointment, is this residual fear??" I began panicking thinking that I needed to cancel my reading sessions and go home to lie down and calm myself.
Fear was setting my bones, I could feel it creep through my entire body and tingling worse as I kept hearing the drill & suction noises.
Then I notice someone walk out of the library out of the corner of my eye. I look over and it's a Dental Assistant wearing a mask, and protective eye wear, and removing her gloves.
Holy Shit. I've gone off my rocker.
I walk over to the library door and peek in...and it dawns on me.
Today was the day for the "Mobile Dentist" to pay a visit to our school.
Breathe. Chuckle. Wow...that was close.
I've never been so worried about my sanity in my entire life. And I've never laughed so hard at myself. The poor K teacher (classroom right next to the library) must've thought I was crazy laughing like that in the school hallway.
Have You Ever
Copy & Paste the Meme, delete my answers & fill in your own :o) Straightforward & Simple. Thanks to Carina for tagging me, I love to play along.
1. Have you ever been on TV?
Yes I have, a number of times actually. I was on once in 3rd grade for the Variety Club Tel-a-thon where I represented my class/school and gave our donations live (I remember wearing a pretty pink silky 2 pc suit), I was on for various volunteer things at the Ki-Low-Na Friendship Society (always a source for news in K-town as it's right down the street from the local News Station), and a few times while I was participating in the Kelowna Lady of the Lake Beauty Pageant.
2. Have you ever sung in public?
Plenty...I have a few people who will tell you stories of me singing at the drop of a dime (both drunken & sober) in public in my youth because I loved to sing (and was fairly decent I might add). I used singing as my talent in the aforementioned pageant singing Janet Jackson's Together Again. In my later years I did plenty of Kareoke, but it's been a while, now I mainly sing for my boys and leave it at that.
3. Have you ever dyed your hair blond?
Yes.Though it was mostly small streaks that combined to make my whole mop look blonde. I really only do it when I feel like a big change cause it takes forever to grow out.
4. Have you ever eaten frogs' legs?
No, I prefer to play with my frogs rather than eat them.
5. Have you ever received a present that you really hated?
Yes. I'm married, and I'm a mom. It happens. I'm gracious though, and I will use said gift whether I like it or not. I don't like to hurt people's feelings that way.
6. Have you ever walked into a lamp post?
Plenty...and if you want to know if I've ever done it in an embaressing situation the answer is yes as well. Picture me tryin to be all sexy and chattin with a someone and *BLAM*, there she topples. That's me. Or, have you ever had your hands full of multiple bags, baby and older child trying to make it through an icy parking lot and walk into a light post?? I have.
7. Have you ever cooked a meal by yourself for more than 15 people?
Yes, it's called Canada Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas. I love my family, and I wouldn't have it any other way.
8. Have you ever fallen or stumbled in front of others?
Yup, I recall slipping in my 7 inch heels on the stage during my final promenade and presentation at the LotL pageant Finale. Yeah...fun.
9. Have you ever done volunteer work?
I'm a Volunteer-aholic. I prefer to donate my time rather than earn money. It's so much more satisfying. That's why I need to be rich. Seriously though, with each hour I donate I know i'm making a difference to someone, no matter what it is that I'm doing.
Tagging anyone who wants to play :o)

Party Planning

Is it kinda crazy that I'm starting to prepare for D's looking 7th birthday at the end of next month? Planning for the party on the 21st, and we're going with a Super Mario Theme.
Should make for a fairly easy cake, wonder if I should start testing my colors now....?
Looking online, a simple cake pan goes on ebay for anything between 35 & 50 dollars. Crazy.
Found a few website that does the party supplies...so on that front we'll be looking at a tab of about 50 for everything that I'd like. We'll be having the Cake & food here at the house, and then transfer everyone to the facility of D's choice for some indoor play time which could ring up a bill of anywhere between 60 & 80 dollars.Guess it'd be a good idea to start getting stuff for it now, that way it doesn't seem like such a huge chunk of cash when the time nears. Not too bad considering some past years. Fairly small considering...course, this doesn't include the food I'll be serving at the party beforehand, but that shouldn't be too much as kids don't usually go through that much food anyhow. My only question left is...what on earth do we consider for a gift?? Last year he got a Wii, how on earth do we do something as special? I guess it's a good thing I have time to ponder...

I Needed Inspiration
Looks like a beautiful day today, bright, sunny, clear.
Our garbage disposal isn't working...blah, gotta call the landlord. Is there something that I'm just not doing right?? This is the second time it's broken down on me in 6 months.
Couldn't sleep last night, had a tremendous toothache. Stayed up reading Chicken Soup For The Canadian Soul. Discovered it was autographed by one of the co-authors who put it together, how cool. I had purchased it at a bargain bookstore years ago as a souvenir when we first traveled back home to introduce Chance to my family. This remains one of my all-time favorite books. I love the personal stories that really truly show just what a wonderful, caring place Canada can be, and I truly believe the authors hit the nail square on the head with the tone of the book.
I've always wondered how I can possibly be so much different from the people in my community. I feel as if they look at me like I'm a leper with some of the ideas that sprout out of my mouth. I'm not that far gone, I'm just Canadian...LOL
Seriously though, it's a difference that is so subtle you can hardly notice it in mainstream society.
I do every small thing I can to make a difference to the people in my life, and for the earth. I would gladly do anything to help my neighbor, and have on quite a number of occasions. I am the one person you can call at 3 in the morning and I will come and help you out, no matter what you will never get a No. I don't think anything of recycling, and actually get angry when I see how much garbage is on the curb on Garbage Day. I go to great lengths to make you feel at home, listened to, and cared for while visiting my family, for however long it may be, and despite the fact that I may not like you. I volunteer at the drop of a dime, regardless of how much work it involves. I dedicate myself to helping my children understand just how privileged they are that they want for nothing in this world, and how they should never take it for granted. I make it a point to send cards, and letters to US Veterans, and those still in service because even though I don't believe in war, I believe it's my duty to thank those who are involved in one for me. I regularly send cards to Children's hospitals across both nations, simply because I can, and I know they make a difference because they send thank-you's back. I hope. I believe that everything I do will change the world someday, and that I can help create a society that currently only dreamed of. I give, and I don't need to recieve in return, if you smile when I do it, I feel satisfied.
The difference? I'm not out there for me...I'm out there for everyone else first, and then me. Why? Because I know eventually someone will do the same for me, and I'm content in that knowledge. In all fairness, yes, I know, not everyone in the USA or Canada is like that either, but there's enough to make an impression on those who visit.
I guess I'm just feeling a bit patriotic after reading that book, and though I'm rather tired today, I will finish what I had set out to work on this weekend with those thoughts warming my heart, and fueling my mind on to what my next project will be.
